Deleting your data

Everything in Brew is deletable, and deletion is permanent. This page says how to do it, what goes, and how long anything survives afterwards. You will not be asked why, and there is no retention offer at the end of it.
Export first, if you want any of it
Deleting cannot be undone, so take a copy first if you might want one. Export everything returns a single JSON file with every row Brew holds about you. It stays available right up to the moment you delete.
Delete the whole account
In the web app
Sign in, and at the foot of the page choose Delete account, then Delete permanently. It happens immediately.
From the phone app
The iPhone app does not yet carry a delete control of its own. Until it does, delete from the web app above, signed in as the same Google account - it is the same account and the same data either way - or email the address below.
By email
Write to [email protected] from the address your account uses, and say you want it deleted. Nothing else is needed. It is done within thirty days, and in practice within a few days.
Delete one thing rather than everything
You do not have to leave to remove something. Any single memory can be deleted where it stands, and deleting it takes with it the event it was recorded from, its index, the people and places read out of it, and anything Brew generated from it - including Brew's own replies about it. Interpretations and replies can each be dismissed on their own.
What deleting the account destroys
All of it. The account itself; the append-only event log; every memory and its index; the people, places and topics extracted from them and the links between them; every interpretation and reply Brew generated, and the evidence trail behind each; every task list; every signed-in session; and the token Google issued at sign-in.
The deletion runs as a single transaction that counts what is left and refuses to finish if any row of yours survives it. A partial deletion is not something Brew can end up in: either everything goes or nothing does and you are told.
What survives, and for how long
Nothing in the live database. The database provider keeps point-in-time backups for a limited disaster-recovery window, on the order of days, and deleted data disappears from those as the window rolls forward. Those backups are only ever used to restore the service after a failure.
Text already sent to OpenAI for indexing or answering is held under their API terms and retention policy, not Brew's. Deleting your account here does not reach into their systems.
Google's side of it
Deleting your Brew account removes the token Brew was issued. You can also revoke Brew's access from your Google account's security settings if you want it gone from both ends.
